Living in Ohio, the weather can be unpredictable, especially in the winter. Don’t go unprepared for a snow emergency. Make a kit with the essential items below to ensure your family’s comfort and safety:

  1. Extra blankets, sweatshirts, and flannels. Make sure you have enough warm-weather clothes to last a few days. Be sure to keep gloves, scarves, and face masks around too. 2. Extra flashlights and batteries in case of a power outage
  2. Weather radio to keep up with conditions- must be battery-powered
  3. First aid kit in case of injuries
  4. Extra food and water. Food needs to require no cooking, such as packaged snacks and canned goods. Three-day supply of food and at least 1 gallon of water per person per day. Plan for up to two weeks.
  5. Extra prescription medicine as needed
  6. Charger for your phone to contact friends and family. Power banks work well for this.
  7. Sanitation products such as paper towels and toilet paper, hand sanitizer and soap, and household cleaners
  8. Tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, and hammers. Especially handy if needing to turn off utilities.
  9. Extra cash and identification
