Living in Ohio, the weather can be unpredictable, especially in the winter. Don’t go unprepared for a snow emergency. Make a kit with the essential items below to ensure your family’s comfort and safety:
- Extra blankets, sweatshirts, and flannels. Make sure you have enough warm-weather clothes to last a few days. Be sure to keep gloves, scarves, and face masks around too. 2. Extra flashlights and batteries in case of a power outage
- Weather radio to keep up with conditions- must be battery-powered
- First aid kit in case of injuries
- Extra food and water. Food needs to require no cooking, such as packaged snacks and canned goods. Three-day supply of food and at least 1 gallon of water per person per day. Plan for up to two weeks.
- Extra prescription medicine as needed
- Charger for your phone to contact friends and family. Power banks work well for this.
- Sanitation products such as paper towels and toilet paper, hand sanitizer and soap, and household cleaners
- Tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, and hammers. Especially handy if needing to turn off utilities.
