What is a Rake Board and what does it do?
A Rake Board is a piece of material that runs along the sides of a sloped roof. Just like the Soffit and Fascia Boards the Rake Board is also responsible for preventing water from getting in. The Rake Board prevents water from getting behind siding, it also makes the roof complete otherwise you would see the rafters.
What happened to my Rake Boards?
Rake Boards can be damaged just by basic wear and tear overtime, or the shingles could be leaking causing water to get behind the Rake Boards causing them to rot.
When and why the Rake Boards need to be repaired?
Rake Boards need to be repaired as soon as possible because if not more water will get through and could do serious damage to the house internally. The quicker it is fixed the quicker we will be able to find the source and fix that as well.
How to fix it?
Similar to Soffit and Fascia repair, we recommend using a PVC Board to replace damaged Rake boards. Aesthetically PVC look the same as wood. PVC board is a composite material that will not rot, making it the ideal replacement for Rake Boards
