Looking to make a home upgrade without spending too much? Look no further. Here are some ideas for how you can freshen up your home on a budget.

    1. Paint. Painting a room (or several) is one of the most cost-effective ways to make your place look brand new. Not only does a coat of paint make a space look new, it can change the entire feel of the room.
    2. Hardware. In your kitchen and bathroom (or basically anywhere with cabinetry), you can upgrade the space with new handles. If you have a knob in place, change it up and choose a bar instead. Is every handle black in color? Try brushed nickel or chrome for a pop of color.
    3. Replace kitchen countertops. Cabinets often have a long lifespan, so if those are in good shape, consider getting new countertops to create a new and refreshed look.
    4. Add a backsplash. Another way to dramatically change the look of your kitchen is to add a backsplash. This can change the color and the style for little cost.
    5. Restore flooring. This could go for any room in the house. Updating the shine on a wood floor or changing from carpet to planks, can change a room’s look easily and relatively inexpensively.
    6. Add an accent wall. Another option for any room in the house, particularly a living room, bedroom, or bathroom. This change, much like a backsplash, can change the look of a room significantly.
    7. New light fixtures. This could be above a dining room table, in the owner’s suite, or in the living room. This is a relatively affordable way to make a room feel different immediately.
    8. Utilize existing space. Create a mini mudroom out of a linen closet or add stylish storage to a bathroom, living room, or bedroom. This can be a way to add flair and functionality.
    9. Upgrade the shower. Installing new hardware (showerheads, faucets, and nozzles) and turning a tub into a walk-in (or vice versa), creates change for a little more time and cost but a lot of benefits. Turn your regular bathroom into a spa-like relaxation room.
    10. Install an outdoor space. If you have a yard, utilize it with a new patio, deck, or even a firepit. You can control the degree of change based on your budget, but creating a backyard space can make your home feel drastically better (and increase its value) in a short amount of time.
